Five Guys To Open, Popeyes Opening Two Stores & Whynot Expands
Following last week's announcement that burger slingers Huddlers had opened a fully fledged store in Beijing, we've got more exciting burger and fast food-related news! Five Guys is finally set to open in Beijing, Popeyes will be opening two Beijing stores and WhyNot is opening a second branch.
Five Guys Set to Open Store in Chaoyang Joy City
Fans of the American fast food chain Five Guys will be excited to learn that they will finally be opening a branch in Beijing! According to WeChat account 商业那点事儿 (see picture below), Five Guys is slated to open on the second floor of Chaoyang Joy City. No prospective opening date has been given yet for when it might open, other than it will be at some point in 2026. Fingers crossed, we won't have to wait too long!
Currently, Five Guys has five branches in the Chinese Mainland, all of which are located in Shanghai, where they opened their first store in 2021. If their Shanghai locations are anything to go by, at the Beijing branch you can expect their signature lineup of burgers, fries, hot dogs and milkshakes, plus the brand's famously generous range of free toppings that let you fully customize your order. They may also have some limited-edition burgers made specifically for the Chinese market, such as their Spicy Cheeseburger.
Popeyes to Open Stores in Wangfujing and Zhongguancun
Last November, we shared the news that Popeyes would be returning to Beijing, with plans to open a store in Wangfujing. Now, according to a new listing on Dianping, they are also set to open a branch in Zhongguancun. There has been no official announcement yet from Popeyes on when the two Beijing stores will open, but both already have listings on Dianping. Once we have any further news on possible opening dates, we'll be sure to let you know!
WhyNot to Open Second Branch in Beixinqiao
Gulour craft beer and burger spot WhyNot is opening a second branch in Beijing, just north of Beixinqiao Subway Station. The new location is a larger space than their original Gulou spot and here they are hoping to put on a wide range of events including live music, sports screening and other exciting activities. They'll also be serving up their usual array of great brews and, of course, delicious burgers that got them a runner-up award for Best New Burger in the 2024 Juicy Burger Cup.
The new branch will officially open on Mar 28, however they'll be having a soft opening Electronic Music Night on Mar 27 and they will also be collaborating with The Other Shore Brew and RUHR Brewing Co for two Tap Takeovers from Mar 27-29. Lastly, they'll be live screening the Formula One Japanese Grand Prix 2026 across the numerous screens at the new venue from Mar 28-29.
