Rest & Recreation: Games at Zone Club

Zone Club is a little like the youth club your teen self frequented, though probably significantly cleaner and with less chance of a fight breaking out.

And, just as your illicit adolescent encounters with alcohol necessitated complex purchasing arrangements, we found that getting a drink here proved tricky – it shouldn’t take four staff to work out an order for a couple of cold bottles of beer (RMB 20-50).

Cocktails are overpriced at RMB 48 upwards, but customers seem to enjoy Zone Club as a progression of the local craze for board-game cafes. Besides Settlers of Catan and suchlike, there’s pool, foosball, air hockey and electronic darts.

You won’t stay for the whole night, but Zone Club is a valid stop-off point if you’re spilling out of the nearby teppanyaki joints and fancy a game of pool.

Good for: Non-drinkers, a quieter night
Also try: Ball House, Johnny Duck’s
