Philips Air Filter (RMB 900)
Used but in perfect condition, bought February 2015 in Shanghai and used a few times before moving to Shanghai, with a newly-changed carbon filter. Hepa filter can still be used for 2-3 months, depending on how often you use it. Has indicators to determine air quality (red for bad, purple for so so, blue for good), and filter light blinks when it's time to replace it. Pick-up from Shunyi or delivery to nearest subway station.

I guess you could check the classifieds (http://www.thebeijinger.com/classifieds/air-filtration) sometimes and see if someone sells one.

The idea of a secondhand market is nice. However, keep in mind the follow-up costs.

For example the Airgle AG 800. Supposed to change the filters every 8-12 month ( AG800 Gas and Odor Filter RMB 980 , AG800 HEPAfast Filter RMB 1680) you have a fix cost of RMB2660 every year.

Anyway, I recommend people, if they have the chance to buy a purifier outside of China. You simply get ripped off here.

Yeah, xiaomi release a xiaomi air 2, a bit smaller than the first one (330m³/h vs 406m³/h) but 699 rmb only (good enough for a bedroom).

Thanks for reminding people about the secondhand market, that's where I've bought many machines (usually from one of the Yahoo groups). Also don't forget that a few decent smaller models are brand new and sold for under 1,000 RMB, and there's always the 200 RMB Smartair filter.
