We'll be announcing many more authors in the coming weeks. This initial list is only the international authors (plus a couple of high-profile locals). Rest assured, there will be plenty of local Chinese authors on our final program.

Hear, hear, Admin.

I think you are tarring the wrong subject with the "Politically Correct" brush.

The Bookworm, to the best of my knowledge, stocks almost no Chinese-language books. It's an English-language bookstore.

And I believe that most of their events are in English as well.

We are in China. There's lots of opportunities for local authors to spend their time addressing Chinese audiences.

And in fact, remarkably few works by Chinese contemporary authors are even translated into English, which means they remain inacessible to non-Chinese speakers.

And there are almost no other events in Beijing that attract foreign authors except this one.

Also: Imagine what a thrill this event is for a Chinese audience that understands English.

They have a great opportunity to hear from a wide range of foreign authors.

I supppose there are additional overseas Chinese authors that could be included (and have been in the past) but my guess is the Chinese-American organizer of the festival has reached out to all that he can
