Beijing's First Culinary Incubator, Hatchery, to Soft Launch Feb 1, Bookings Open Jan 25

We've always said that one of our favorite things about Beijing is the number of people making a go of being an entrepreneur, particularly homegrown food businesses. Nevertheless, despite the flexibility and low cost of entry Beijing offers, it can still be pretty difficult to get a food start-up off the ground and grow it into a viable business.

Hatchery is here to change that.

Beijing's first culinary incubator (see more on concept of business incubators here), Hatchery is set to soft launch at the beginning of February. Located in Tuanjiehu, Hatchery aims to help China's next generation of food entrepreneurs and concepts (both locals and expats) connect with key people during the earliest stages of their business.

In their own words:

Based in Beijing, China, Hatchery is an innovative platform that brings together entrepreneurs, investors, mentors and local communities to develop, test, launch, and enjoy exciting new food and beverage ideas. Since our founding in 2015, we have been working hard to bring more of the world’s unique flavors and cuisines to China.

Hatchery is currently headquartered at a multi-purpose space in Tuanjiehu, Beijing. Within the venue is a 250-square-meter dining area with seating for up to 100 diners, fully stocked bar, private dining rooms, and a table-tennis table. The Hatchery kitchen occupies 180 square meters with bakery, large food preparation areas, professional kitchen equipment and food storage facilities.

During their soft launch period, Hatchery will open for dinner for the launch of their new concept Mighty Mo's, serving New Zealand green-lipped mussels and craft beers. Starting February 20, they will also be bringing back the popular Soul Bowls concept, which some of the team behind Hatchery launched as at pop-up at The Bookworm at the end of 2015 (they were also behind Buena Onda), with a new menu and great value brunch drinks specials. Both will have a discounted food menu during the initial few weeks.

Below is the soft launch schedule they provided us:

Feb 1-6: Mighty Mo’s Dinner 50 percent off food (reservations only)
Feb 7-13: Spring Festival
Feb 15-21: Mighty Mo’s Dinner 50 percent off food (reservations only)
Feb 20-21: Soul Bowls Brunch set menu every weekend onwards (reservations only)
Feb 22-28: Mighty Mo’s 25 percent off food
Mar 12: Grand Opening Party (details to come)

Mighty Mo's will be open for dinner from 5.30-11pm and Soul Bowls' weekend brunch will be available from 10am-3pm. Bookings open January 25 by email only via jj@hatchery.asia

We'll be back with a first look at the Hatchery space soon, but for now mark your calendars for January 25.
