Side Street’s Jianguomen Branch Officially Launches New Menu

Side Street’s Jianguomen branch has just launched their new menu, and it boasts some truly mouth-watering additions that are exclusive to this branch. With new burgers, appetizers, curry bowls and more they’re really upping their game, so let’s have a look at just what they have on offer.

As they're winners of the 2020 Burger Cup, we have to of course start with a look at Side Street's award-winning burgers.

Covering a full two page spread in the menu, they have their well-known classics such as the El Cholo 2.0 (RMB 88) - a chorizo pork and beef patty topped with cheddar cheese, blue cheese, goat cheese, sour cream, jalapenos, tortilla strips, lettuce, chilaquiles salsa and spicy mayo - which helped them win the Burger Crown in 2020.

However, at this branch they’ve added two wagyu beef patties to the menu, bringing their burgers to a whole new level. The first one is an upgrade to the classic K.O. (RMB 88). Simply called the Wagyu K.O. (RMB 105), it sees double wagyu smashed beef patties topped with red and white cheddar cheese, IPA caramelized onions and signature K.O sauce. The other wagyu burger on the menu is the Wagyu Bloody Mary Burger (RMB 108) that has double wagyu smashed beef patties topped with cheddar cheese, celery relish, onion and Side Street bloody Mary tomato relish.

Moving on from burgers they’ve also updated their appetizers bringing plenty of flavors to excite your taste buds. A few starters that are only available on the Jianguomen branch menu are the Lentil Popcorn (RMB 40) which is deep fried lentil “popcorn” served with spiced yogurt, Crispy Fried Lamb (RMB 78) which sees battered, spiced lamb served with garlic mayo and cumin Bombay powder and for cheese lovers there’s Spiced Cheese Sticks (RMB 50) which are deep fried spiced paneer, parmesan and mozzarella cheese sticks with spicy tomato chutney. They’ve also spiced up a couple of their usual appetizers with Cajun Fries (RMB 38) and Curried Hummus (RMB 40) also being on the menu.

Their Meat Section also has a few new items, includinh Pulled Lamb Flatbread (RMB 68) which is a flatbread topped with pulled, slow cooked lamb shoulder cooked in coconut with Indian spices served with eggplant sauce, spring onions and radish. There is also the Roasted Chicken Tika (RMB 98) that is made up of tikka spiced marinated half chicken with lemon and lentil potato salad.

Another part of their menu that’s seen an upgrade are their Curry Bowls (RMB 68-78) which are now served with rice, chopped chickpea salad and papadums. And they’ve introduced a whole new deal to go along with it, offering all Curry Bowls for half price on Wednesdays. They have also added a new deal on Thursdays when you can get buy one get one free ribs from 6pm onwards.

Two final new menu additions worth mentioning are their Cold Cuts, with a Cured Meat Board (RMB 118) – three cured meats, pickled gherkins, olives, bloody Mary relish and bread – and a Cheese Board (RMB 98) – three cheeses, curried apple chutney, almonds, grapes and bread – being added to the menu. One thing that hasn’t changed however, is their daily happy hour with RMB 10 off all Slow Boat beer from 3-7pm, the perfect accompaniment to wash down a new menu item with.
