I have strong feelings about this! But take no offense, we're only talking about opinions of burgers here. My background? A 28 year old New Yorker who's lived in Beijing for almost 3 years and cried over the times I went to places like Blue Frog where they won't even consider an instruction to cook it under medium. This is the place voted no. 1 best burger? Clearly, none of the people I know in Beijing participated in that vote. TGI Friday's happens to actually cook your burger the way you like it most of the time. Fatburger is fast and just hands down uses good, quality beef. For the best though, skip all that because you don't even need to instruct them how to cook it at Frost. They grill it to a juicy perfection and even though having choices is nice - they seem to know best with their double juicy grilled beef on toasted english muffins (not your typical American style burger). Only suggestion for them (don't put too much, if any, salt on the beef as a seasoning because the english muffin's are already quite salty.

Highlights of the first round include close battles for supremacy in the following matches:

Chef Too vs Nola

Switch! vs Village Café

Lush vs Biteapitta

The Big Smoke vs The Stumble Inn

Not really a bad burger in the bunch ... tough call on all of those burgers, will be a shame to see some of them fall in the first round, but fall they must as only 4 of the above 8 will go on

Well, we don't comment on the competition. In fact, our repeat customers, 11 years of success, copy cats, and international expansion speaks for itself.

I have personally tried every place in this town ( with fapiao Smile ) and that is why we decided Beijing needed a monumental change of palette.

Taste us soon!

Enough said!!!

Highlights:

opening act - guys playing cello
awsome soul singer that traded licks with Elton in the early stages of the show

Lowpoints:

We felt hardly done by with our 680RMB tickets - top row of the arena to the side of stage - may as well have been behind the stage - many of us thought more like a 280RMB ticket. Strangely enough many empty seats in front of the stage.
Elton's cold - he seemed to be struggling a bit and playing with his nose through many of the songs
Slow start to set - many unrecognisable songs that sounded very similar to me
The signs that some of the audience were waiving "EJ loves BJ"

I had nice quiet lunch one fine day in their upstairs room. The sun streamed through the long, South-facing windows. The side of humus, glass of house red, and the moussaka were excellent. Finished up with a shot of expresso as I fiddled on my iPad.

BTW - some humus comes with the main course, but I really was hungry for a lot more humus and so I ordered the side as a starter. They gave extra pita bread as it does come with only a few wedges.

Service was smooth and the only other table of Chinese gentlemen was far enough away that they just a nice backdrop of burble.

The only slight glitch was trying to get my bill when I was ready to go. I guess they decided to let me drift on my rare weekday afternoon free!
