Wonderbräu: Newest German Tap House Opens in International Wonderland
What springs to mind when you picture a typical German brauhaus? Comely waitresses greeting you at the door? Steins of frothy ale? Rich bratwurst and sauerkraut dishes? Me too. Würzburger Hofbräu at International Wonderland – something of a graveyard for bars – has those things, but seems to lack a smidgen of that Teutonic charm.
Given that it’s the very new kid on a tough block, that might be a little unfair. The menu features a range of German brews like Wurzburg, Erdinger and Paulaner (RMB 40–48). There’s even a German flavor to the wine and spirit lists, with Liebfraumilch, Riesling and Eiswein featuring alongside schnapps, German fruit brandy and Jagermeister.
Unused clay tankards hang on hooks from the ceiling, while prints of German architecture perch alongside jubilant Oktoberfest scenes, each serving only to remind you of what Würzburger Hofbräu sadly isn’t. Yet. Perhaps all it needs is a group of gregarious Teutons to make it their base during the upcoming festivities.
Also try: Drei Kronen, Paulaner Brauhaus

Was super psyched to see a German restaurant come to my building, but disappointed with this one. No schnitzel on the menu, mediocre beer, and sterile vibe. The sausages and mashed potato are ok, but overall this place is a missed opportunity.

What should I say? I was really disappointed and pissed off in this restaurant.
I would like to be fair, the service, food and drinks were ok.
But the music hit me deep.
Me, (German nationality)had to listen to NAZI songs from the Hitler Area, especially SA and SS songs.
"Die Fahnen hoch, die Reihen fest geschlossen, SA marschiert.... and so on.
The Nazis were potential murders during the period of 1935 and 1945
and million of people lost their life as well million of people suffered from the second World War and terror.
As German nationality I feel really embarrassed and sad.
Please landlord change your mind and music.
Thanks
Pangzi
