Beijing Ranked the 5th most Attractive City in the World

Beijing newspapers gave prominent coverage to the news the capital has been ranked the 5th most attractive city in the world according a survey by the Greater Paris Investment Agency in cooperation with Ernst & Young . The results of the survey (which can be downloaded here) were announced at the “Summer Davos” currently taking place in Tianjin. It ranked the image and attractiveness of major capitals around the world in terms of how they’re perceived by international decision-makers and also in terms of how they’re viewed as potential investment options. New York, London and Paris relied on their reputation to claim the top three positions. Tokyo beat out Beijing for fourth place, but the capital was deemed more attractive then Hong Kong, Shanghai and Moscow.

While Beijing papers focuses on the city’s fifth place ranking, other English language reports tended to pick up on the news that Shanghai was named as the most attractive global city over the next three years.

If you check the reference from Ernest & Young, then it says only "(...) New York, London, Paris, Tokyo and Beijing feature among the top best-known cities as ranked by international investors (...)". There is nowhere mentioned, that Beijing is "the 5th most attractive city in the world". Also not in the actual study, if you take time to download it.

But one survey has Beijing and Shanghai rankend second only to New York as "most attractive as a company location"...

First off New York is not the Capital of the United States, second Hong Kong and Shanghai are not the Captial of China yet they were considered. The article is not rating beauty but rather investment options. I would think that Delhi, Hanoi, Cario, Brazilia, and many others would be up there with these but they are not mentioned. I have to say it is a pretty bad article.
