2009 Mar 18 Midi Festival goes South

According to a Midi School announcement today, The 2009 Midi Modern Music Festival will be held from May 1 to May 3 in the city of Zhenjiang at Jiangsu Province, specific location & map to come. A smaller-scale indoor festival in Shanghai is also under planning.

Lineup consists of 20 Chinese acts and 10 foreign bands, including Cui Jian (崔健), Miserable Faith (痛苦的信仰), Thin Man (瘦人), Muma & Third Party (木玛), Honey Gun (糖果枪), Yaksa (夜叉), Brain Failure (脑浊), Reflector (反光镜), SUBS and Cold Fairyland (冷酷仙境).

The organizer didn't reveal the reason for this venue change. However, Midi School is still planning a Beijing leg of the festival this year.

2008 delayed, because of the national games. This year relocated because of 60 years PRC. Can't they relax a little bit?! The festival at Midi school last Octobre was really great - only the cool kids there and lot of good music. No signs of counter revolution or human rights activities after all. And this year? One month to go and still no offical online information. That is more PUNK than any well organized mega-music-festival could be!
