2009 Sep 19 Taste of the Subcontinent - Swagat

Virtually the only Indian restaurant south of Guomao, Swagat offers a filling lunch buffet for RMB 38 that has curries and the expected sides.

The a la carte menu is fairly exhaustive in terms of variety. Starters include meats from the tandoor such as tandoori chicken (RMB 42 for a half chicken) alongside numerous vegetarian options like dal makhani (RMB 38) and palak paneer (RMB 32). Chicken, lamb and beef curries range from the mild (tikka masala) to the spicy (vindaloo), so there is something to satisfy all palates.

Swagat may not have the reputation of Beijing’s more established curry empires, but it does provide a pleasant, inexpensive option for those in the area seeking a taste of the subcontinent.

Daily 11am-10.30pm. B107 Landgent City Mall, 22 Dongsanhuan Lu, Chaoyang District. (136 7132 5635) 朝阳区东三环中路22号乐城中心下沉广场B107
