2009 Sep 30 Modern Sky Music Festival: All International Acts Cancelled
If you're getting all excited about going to Chaoyang Park in the following week to see The Buzzcocks, The Futureheads, British Sea Power, The (Internaitonal) Noise Conspiracy...get ready for the disappointment - all 14 international acts have been cancelled for "unforeseen circumstances". That means half line-ups of the main stage will not be there.
Despite that, The 2009 Modern Sky Music Festival will still be on with two stages putting together to make up for the loss. The organizer is also coming up with a full refund plan which allows people who have already bought the tickets. Stay tune at our website for updates on that.
This is from Modern Sky:
"All international acts for the 2009 Modern Sky Festival have been cancelled.
Modern Sky regrets to announce that due to unforeseen circumstances, the 14 international acts originally scheduled to perform at the 2009 Modern Sky Festival will be unable to attend. We offer our sincerest apologies for the disappointment.
However, the organizers are determined to move forward as planned. The time and place of the festival – October 4-7 at Beijing’s Chaoyang Park – has not changed. As for the international acts who will now not be performing, Modern Sky will be setting up a “Main Stage + MySpace Stage” at the festival grounds, so that fans can still enjoy the music.
A new performance lineup and ticket prices are in the process of being adjusted; Modern Sky appreciates your patience and understanding during this time. Updated information and directions on how to refund tickets will be coming shortly.
Again, Modern Sky expresses its sincerest apologies and gratitude for your continued support."
In addition to that, The (International) Noise Conspiracy, who has been scheduled to play at Yugong Yishan on Oct 6 will also be cancelled.
Well, not totally unexpected, isn't it?

The parade for the 60th anniversary of the PRC this October 1 is shaping up to be bigger than Ben Hur – or at least the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. CNReviews has provided a good round up of recent coverage in the local press, while the naughty New Yorker has posted some surprisingly dull pirate footage of students rehearsing for the parade – though it’s displayed via YouTube so most Beijingers won’t be able to see it.In with the Music: The InMusic Festival

What may be the last of its kind of the season, the InMusic Festival (Aug 7-9) at the Zhangbei Grasslands (230km outside of Beijing; see photo, right) is a three-day, Woodstock-esque music orgasm with none other than Tricky headlining. Plus, horseback riding, kite flying and a chance to play football with rock stars (Joyside is already registered) … How can you say no? End summer with a bang – or a Bigger Bang, if you want to.

Here are 25 bands you can catch at InMusic, in no particular order ...

Refund Plan for Party Animals
You! Having too much fun le! Image by fatfatfat, douban.comFor people who attended the evening portion of Intro 2009: Beijing Electronic Music Festival, which was broken up by the police, there is some news: According to Terry Tu, a DJ from Acupuncture Records, the organizer received more than 100 phone call complaints (apparently about the noise) from people living around 798, and the police canceled the evening indoor party "for security reasons".
Acupuncture Records has just released their ticket refund plan for disappointed party animals: 100% refund for people who haven't used their ticket; 50% refund for people bought the RMB 200 ticket after 9pm。

Re: Modern Sky Music Festival: All International Acts ...
that's too bad.
but ... "unforeseen circumstances"?
"unforeseen circumstances"?
14 international acts coming to this city, where it is so incredibly common (and in fact expected) to see foreign acts cancelled due to a failure to obtain the correct permits, so close to the 60th anniversary?
unforseen?
Not likely.
I could forsee this coming a mile a way.

It's great that despite the ludicrousness of this country's powers at be, Modern Sky et al. still keep trying to put these things together. god, it must be frustrating - good on them.
