2010 Jan 22 STOP PRESS: Killers' Beijing Gig Canceled

The Beijinger has just received news that the Killers gig this Tuesday, January 26 has been canceled.

For once it seems the cancellation is not related to local issues with authorities - at this stage it appears the band's entire Asia tour has been called off. The tour was to have included appearances in Singapore, The Philippines, Australia, Japan and Korea, as well as Beijing and Hong Kong.

More information as it comes to hand.

can't say I didn't see this one coming, albeit for the wrong reasons!
At least, on this, misery has company and ALL of their Asian tour is cancelled, not just Beijing or China.

Brandon Flowers's mother has just passed away. No wonder they stopped the tour. Sad.

  • Killers Update: Refunds Now Available

On Friday we reported the Killers Asian tour, including their appearance at Beijing’s Workers Gymnasium tomorrow (Tuesday, January 26), had been canceled. The promoters Live Nation have now officially stated the tour will not go ahead “due to unforeseen circumstances involving a serious illness of a close family member.” The Live Nation statement also says the band hopes “to reschedule their shows soon,” though this runs counter to reports in the American media that the band are taking a break for the foreseeable future. In any case, refunds are now available for the canceled Beijing concert.

  • Meet The Killers: Interview with Ronnie Vannucci

Back in November, when somebody told us The Killers are coming to town on Januaray 26, one of our editors sang, "Somebody told me, you're coming to Beijing, I don't believe it...", and we agreed with him despite his lack of singing ability. During the past few months, lots of people have been telling us it’s true and we still don’t quite believe it - even after we had this Q&A with the band’s drummer Ronnie Vannucci. But if you are the kind of person who has, you know, eyes, you've probably seen the show on billboards at bus stops, the big screen at The Village, and newsstands at restaurants & bars - it's all over the place.

  • The Killers are REALLY Coming in January [Price UPDATE]

We've been suspicious since somebody told us The Killers are coming. After all previous "unforeseen circumstances" and "commercial reasons", it seems the most reasonable reaction is getting ready for the disappointment. But this time it seems for sure - both Universal Music Group and Gehua Live Nation have confirmed that The Killers' concert at Workers' Gymnasium on Jan 26 has been approved by authorities. The show is also listed on The Killers' official website.
