STOP PRESS: Mao Livehouse re-opens This Friday

While fans were still mourning the Mao Livehouse closure, the venue scheduled a show this Friday (May 21), featuring Mythomania, Joker, DengeL, Bedstars and The Newtank. Mao's manager Li Tong confirmed the re-opening. "We've got the license sorted," she says. "But we still need time to book bands." Well, that's a good reason to stay tuned for their upcoming shows.

According to the latest updates, there are three gigs scheduled over the weekend:

May 21
Mythomania, Joker, DengeL, Bedstars, The Newtank
Indie rockers and gothic beauties celebrate the re-opening of 111 Gulou Dongdajie. RMB 40, RMB 30 (advance, students). 9pm. MAO Livehouse (6402 5080)

May 22
Monokino, Mio Myo, Shina
German “ghost rock” returns, supported by indie pop and funky break beats from Holland and America. RMB 50. 9pm. MAO Livehouse (6402 5080)

May 23
UNiXX, The Offset: Spectacles, Soviet Pop
Shoegazing and art rock from Hong Kong meets Beijing experiment. RMB 40. 8.30pm. MAO Livehouse (6402 5080)
