2011 Apr 12 Chloe Sevigny in Beijing?! Plus Opening Ceremony Pop-up Shop at Lane Crawford

We’re so excited we hardly know where to begin. Opening Ceremony, a favorite amongst fashion trendsetters, will be setting up a pop-up shop at Lane Crawford for four weeks starting this Saturday, April 16. (Not sure what a pop-up shop is? Click here.)

And who will be present at the invite-only launch? None other than Academy Award and Golden Globe-nominated actress and style icon Chloe Sevigny, plus the brand’s very own renowned founders Carol Lim and Humberto Leon.

According to Lane Crawford’s blog, their Beijing location “will be transformed for four weeks into a conceptual retail extension of Opening Ceremony, replete with inspired visual displays and exciting must-have products.”

For those unfamiliar with Opening Ceremony – widely praised as “a global brand that still feels exclusive” (side note: no wonder it’s so popular with hipsters) – the first store opened in New York in 2002 with the goal of bringing together labels from around the world. Based on their strategy of spotlighting one country a year and regularly rotating their selection of designers, they’ve earned the respect of fashion, art and business folk alike.

Certainly, their high-quality, stylish yet very wearable clothing contribute to their success, which is why we can’t wait to get our hands on some of those items. Even more exciting? They'll also be releasing an exclusive “Opening Ceremony x Lane Crawford” capsule collection available only at Lane Crawford, featuring LC’s best-selling items redesigned with new fabrics and colors.

Other lines available for purchase will include, of course, the well-received collaborations with Chloe Sevigny, agnés b., Pendleton, Repetto and Rodarte, as well as Pamela Love skull necklaces.

Lane Crawford. Daily 10am-9pm. L130, Seasons Place, 2 Jinchengfang Jie, Financial Street, Xicheng District (6622 0808) 西城区金融街金城坊街2号金融街购物中心L130

While Western luxury brands are currying favor from Chinese consumers left and right, China Fashion Week always serves as a stark reminder that we still have a long way to go. Still, CFW Fall/Winter 2012 – again sponsored by Mercedes-Benz – kicked off to more public interest than ever before on March 24 and concluded with a lavish closing party last Sunday, April 1. A total of 41 fashion shows took place during that time; we have rounded up photos from all the top fashion shows and parties below.
