So this is really happening. We've heard a lot rumors about the Music Valley International Music Festival (former known as Pinggu Music Festival) and all of them were confirmed true yesterday. Ladytron? Yes. Hot Hot Heat? Yes. Editors, Little Boots, KT Tunstall, Juliette Lewis? Yes,yes, yes, yes!

Remember two weeks ago I mentioned that Avril Lavigne will come in May? Nobody from the Pinggu Music Festival bothered to make anything official, but it's getting surprisingly serious all of a sudden. First, there's Ladytron listing the festival in their tour schedule. Then we've been told that musicians you might occasionally see on British TV shows like Little Boots, KT Tunstall and Editors are confirmed. So far, we've also got names including Canadian band Hot Hot Heat and Finnish Negative. But Pinggu is HERE! The Tangshanese must be thrilled.

Mongolian folk-rock doyens Hanggai have developed a cult following since their inception back in 2004, and their first foray into assembling an international lineup of multi-cultural folk acts proved a big success last summer. Now it’s time for that tricky second outing.

It’s too bad that the Beijing Jazz Festival which was scheduled for this weekend got postponed to an undetermined date. To be frank, I am a little overdosed on music festivals, but those cool breezes are bringing the message that there’s not much time left for outdoor activities to remain fun, and bearable. So, Fun Music Festival there is. Beside Beijing’s music festival regulars like Re-tros (Friday), DH & Hellcats (Friday), and Hedgehog (Sunday), there will also be Taiwan’s hit hip-hop group Hot Dog (Friday), Canadian alternative rockers Your Favorite Enemies (Saturday), indie princess Zhang Xuan (Sunday) and more Chinese and international talents.
