Yugong Yishan Temporarily Closed

UPDATE: DJ Wordy's CD Release Party, originally scheduled for May 27 at Yugong Yishan, has now been moved to Tango's first floor for May 27.

Rumors have been circulating today that live music favorite Yugong Yishan - voted "Best Live Music Venue" once again by readers of the Beijinger in the recent Reader Bar & Club Awards - will be temporarily shut down. We've just had that news confirmed by the club's owner, Gouzi, who tells us that Yugong will be closed "to allow for improvements to the venue's fire safety mechanisms."

Gouzi says that all being well, Yugong will reopen around mid-June. However, we'll have to wait and see. For the time being, consider that all shows scheduled at Yugong Yishan (that goes for any Yugong Yishan event listed in the June issue of the Beijinger - out today) from today until the end of June will either be canceled, postponed or moved - call the venue beforehand to make sure that you won't go there for nothing.

Event changes confirmed so far: DJ Wordy's CD Release party, scheduled for May 27, has been moved to Tango's first floor. Meanwhile, Pet Conspiracy's album launch, scheduled for June 4 at Yugong Yishan, will now take place on the same day at Tango 3F.

Stay tuned with us for updates - when Yugong Yishan is ready to reopen, we'll be the first to tell you.
