Un-Happy Children’s Day
Today is Children’s Day but it’s not all fun and games as many would hope. In China games are plentiful, as long as you don’t mind the toxins.
Recently, kid toys in China have been checked with results producing “an eye-opening percentage of children's shoes, strollers and toys were found to be below standard and even dangerous,” according to the Shanghaiist.
The Global Times also reported on the danger of the toys. Several were found to contain heavy metals that can result in chronic poisoning. Non-toxic toys presented additional risks as well. Toys with sharp or pointed edges or with small parts can injury or lead to choking for children.
If the kids didn’t already have it hard enough, their special day is attempting to be usurped by none other than their mothers. Despite Women’s Day and Mother’s Day the moms also want recognition, not to mention a day off work, on Children’s Day as well.
