2011 Jun 12 Breakfast Booty: Granola Giveaway from Beijing's First Delivery Service

Here's the million-dollar question: why the hell is cereal so damn expensive in this city? All told, the cheapest you can get still costs you some 10 kuai a bowl, and that's for those Chinese-y Cereal Stars that resemble milky styrofoam in both taste and nutritional profile. (You know what I'm talking about.)
Luckily, there' s a dollar-a-day answer on the horizon. Beijing has a new granola subscription service: RMB 98 for two weeks' worth of freshly made, crunchy nutty granola. And we're giving away 5 free bags to our readers.
Brandon Trowbridge, former head chef at New Orleans restaurant Nola, is kicking off delivery with Great Wall Granola this week. He'll make the granola fresh (with pecans and maple syrup!) the night before, then ship it out the next day.
Just email your address and cell phone number to order@greatwallgranola.com, and a kilo of granola (basically a two-week supply - unless you're a sumo wrestler) will show up at your door for 98 kuai (that's about 7 kuai a day). Even it out to a clean RMB 100 and he'll donate the extra to Beijing-based NGO Compassion for Migrant Children.
Delivery's free within 4th ring road and Wudaokou.
We've got five 250g bags to give away, so email win@thebeijinger.com about the crunchiest thing you'd never eat for breakfast, and the five of you with the best responses will each win a free bag. Great Wall Granola will deliver fresh to your door (unless you live outside 4th ring or Wudaokou, in which case you'll have to pick it up at the Beijinger office.) Contest ends at noon on Wednesday, June 15.
Get crackin'!

Free Scarves for Expats at D.I.S

Most emerging local brands target the increasingly influential Chinese consumer, not us humble expats. And when they do come after us, they tend to meet with limited success. Not the case with Dutch Items Shanghai, a Shanghai-based boutique designed by and for expat women. D.I.S opened its first shop in 2007, but already has four branches and counting – the latest of which is in Hong Kong. None in Beijing yet, but thanks to their recently launched web shop, Beijingers now have ready access to their high-quality clothing and accessories as well.
Back for More: Nola

"Back for More” is a regular magazine column in which we revisit old favorites.
Like steering a fan boat through alligator country, the weekday lunch buffet at Nola (11am-3pm) is a down-home southern thang. A steaming cauldron of gumbo, cute little cornbread muffins and Cajun deviled eggs are displayed on tables, with a salad station featuring thoughtful additions like crumbly blue cheese and pumpkin seeds. A cauliflower gratin and serviceable mac ‘n’ cheese are kept warm over paraffin lamps, and dainty homemade cookies peer up appetizingly from a tiered tray.

So...how do we get it if we don't live within 4th Ring or WuDaoKou?

@HuanChu:
If you're asking about the competition, the post mentions that any winners outside of 4th ring/wudaokou would have to pick up their free granola at our office, which we'll arrange with the winners.
If you're asking about delivery in general, I would imagine that GWG will deliver outside of 4th ring and Wudaokou, but for a fee. But you'll have to check with them for details.
