2011 Oct 25 A Sneak Peek at Versace for H&M

Swedish fast-fashion behemoth H&M has lured in millions of shoppers with its big-name collaborations. In the past, those have included Lanvin, Stella McCartney, Viktor & Rolf, Sonia Rykiel and more. Some might argue that none have been so big as Versace.

The much-hyped Versace for H&M collection will launch in 300 stores worldwide, as well as online, on November 17. The line stays true to form, drawing from the archives to recreate its iconic prints, bright colors and glamorous cuts.

“The collection for H&M is the essence of Versace,” Donatella Versace says. Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M, added: “It is full of strong pieces that stand out … The women’s collection is flattering and full of dresses, while the men’s collection is very sophisticated.”

Our Beijing contact tells us the collection will be available only at the Qianmen and Xidan locations. It includes men’s and women’s apparel, jewelry, accessories and – a first for H&M – homewares. Below is a sneak peek at some of the designs.

  • Top Fashion Finds: Silk Market

Shopping is no easy feat in Beijing, whether it's a matter of size or style. But from now on, we'll scour all the latest markets, boutiques and streets to bring you the top fashion finds on a monthly basis. We'll start with the one this expat community is probably best acquainted with: Silk Market.

    1. The rays this past weekend were a welcome change, though some of us were left squinty-eyed and badly sunburnt. Make sure you're better equipped for the upcoming sunny months by picking up a snazzy pair of sunglasses now. These days, frames don't come cheap -- especially not the ones donned by the stars, which typically range from RMB 1,025 to RMB 2,700 -- but Silk Market offers plenty of designer knock-offs at far more affordable prices.
