Olympic Expedition: Day 1-10

After setting off on a 57-day trip to London for the Olympics, Brazilians Richard, Pedro and Edgar have made their way through China in their first week with the inevitable car troubles, sightseeing and some uncertainty in their route. Now in the very west of the country, we're waiting to see if the guys can get out of China and into Kazakhstan with Thunder Love.

A summary of the trip so far on Day 5 is that the guys have "clocked 3500 km, killed two birds, lost one hubcap, ripped one kite, drank 60 liters of water and bathed five times."

Days 8-10 have been spent in Xinjiang trying to get the car out of the country. After a friendly visit with the customs guards and almost receiving approval, thoughts of a quick exit were quickly dashed. As expected, the explanation from the police was that "there is no law saying you can’t leave the country in a car, but no one knows what are the legal procedures to authorize them to do it."

On Day 10 the three travelers drove to "Huoerguosi to try to get the papers to leave the country with the car." If that plan ultimately fails the lads will hop on a bus and continue on public transportation until Turkey where they will pick up another car and continue to London.
