2012 Jun 25 Polite Fantastic: Win Canada Day Tickets Plus Grade Eh Week Begins

Oh, Canada. Sing Hallelujah for the home of Leonard Cohen, the winners of the first international cricket match and rights for all. So many reasons to celebrate Canada – and we've not even mentioned Justin Bieber or Mike Myers or assuming all hockey is played on ice. Here in Beijing, there are a number of ways to pay your respects and give thanks to what may just be the most polite nation in North America. The official Canada Day party takes place this coming Saturday (Jun 30) at the Canadian International School of Beijing. We've got tickets to give away but more of that later. The unofficial Canada Day celebrations are already underway with the Beijing-based blogging Canadian Beijing Boyce's Grade-Eh Week. Read on for info on both and details on how to get your mitts on those tickets.
Canada Grade-Eh Week is the brainchild of Beijing Boyce (yes, he of Beijing Boyce fame) and a number of Canadians in the food & beverage industry. The deals begin today and run until July 1. Here's a list of what to expect:
The Irish Volunteer – Moosehead lager (RMB 20), hockey-themed shots (RMB 10-30) and some very meat-heavy pizzas (RMB 50-122, 9"-19")
Flamme – June 26 only – Paul Mathew makes three Canadian cocktails, and they're half-price before 7.30pm
No More Bunz – The Great Canadian Sausage – 48cm BBQ’d dog with Canadian cheddar and bacon – RMB 60 or RMB 100 including two Moosehead beers
The Cut at The Fairmont Hotel – open Tue-Sun – Alberta beef specials at RMB 375-525. Plus they have a Canadian set menu that runs throughout July
The Fairmont Hotel – Canadian Sunday brunch on July 1 – RMB 458 (soft drinks), RMB 588 (with Canadian wine, beer and cocktails), RMB 688 (with champagne)
4corners - Tue-Sun only - Poutine plus Moosehead for RMB 88
Switch! Grill - Maple syrup-glazed ribs for RMB 160. Al-you-can-eat ribs (5-8pm on July 1) RMB 120, plus buckets of Moosehead beers at RMB 100 for five
Home Plate - Memphis “BBQ Poutine” RMB 35 and two bottles of Moosehead for RMB 40
The Box – Poutine at RMB 35 and Beaver Tails also at RMB 35
Paddy O'Shea's – A Canadian-themed quiz on June 27. (Tip: Pick Option Eh for any multiple-choice questions.)
Starfish – Caesar shot with seafood
A Food Affaire – Nanaimo bars and beefy mac ‘n’ cheese
Boyce also kindly lists 13 places around town where you can try Moosehead.

If none of that's official enough for you, or you just want more Canada, then there's always Fete du Canada Day at the Canadian International School of Beijing. The event is organized by the Canada China Business Council and features food from The Fairmont Hotel, street hockey and a mini Olympics. That's not all, there's also the Beijinger's Annual Chili Pepper Eating Contest. We've got five pairs of tickets for Canada Day to give away. For your chance to win, simply answer the following question: In which province is Trailer Park Boys set? Send your answer to win@thebeijinger.com by noon on Thursday, June 28. Winners will notified soon after. Good luck.
