Living La Vida Local: Resolutions Gone Wong

It's only the second day of the New Year and my resolution, eat less sugar, is already doomed. This evening, Modernista is serving Spanish hot chocolate and crunchy churros for dipping. The sweets will be a delightful way to recharge after a day of shopping and sightseeing in the Gulou area.

Aside from eating better, some of use have resolved to be more active in the New Year, so I recommend you hit the slopes this week. Easy one day ski packages are being offered by agencies around the city. You can also plan your own trip. This month's issue of the Beijinger provides great options and advice for skiing, take a look in the embedded article below.

Here is a list of notable community events happening this week:

On Saturday, Luma Lu is launching a new visual arts educational program with an open class day. Photography and design instructors will be sharing the secrets of their trade for free.

On Sunday, Snap Adventures is hosting a day of skiing, snowboarding and soaking in hot tubs at Nanshan Ski Resort.

Next Tuesday, Green Drinks is holding their January meeting at The Bookworm and The British Club of Beijing holds their first event of the New Year with a "mini spa" included.
