Talking Tunes: One of Ladytron Coming and a New Open Mic Night

A slightly later than normal Talking Tunes this week, but a few interesting snippets nonetheless. Here's the latest music news in a nutshell:

• There's a new open mic night on the scene. It's being held at 4Corners every Thursday from 9.30 until midnight. performers will be rewarded with drinks, and you may need to sign up beforehand if you want an early slot. You can call them at 6401 7797 to book an early slot, or else you can sign up at the door.

• V.A Bar will host a "Yellow Submarine Night" which will consist of a movie and performance by the Beijing Beatles on Friday night (Jan 18). The movie gets underway at 8pm, and the Beijing Beatles take to the stage after it's finished.

• Still at V.A Bar, Blackwater provide some traditional Irish music on Saturday night (Jan 19). Join Des and the gang for a good old-fashioned Irish pub-style singalong from 10pm.
• Some interesting news came our way today as it was confirmed that Reuben Wu of Liverpool-based electropop quartet Ladytron will spin a DJ set in March. No venue or date confirmed yet, though we are promised this is going to happen. More details as we get them.

Let's have a Ladytron classic to play us out, shall we? This is their 2011 hit White Elephant.
