Talking Entertainment: Your Weekend Guide To The Arts

Welcome to the new installation of what used to be known as “Art Attack.” We've changed the name to "Talking Entertainment" because we feel that it covers the arts world a little better than the old title, as one forum user summed up last week:

"What the hell is an "art attack?" The imagery is badly conflicting. One imagines Visigoths sacking Rome or something."

We appreciate the feedback. This new blog column, "Talking Entertainment” will strive to dig into the entertainment scene and round up the weekend's arts and entertainment events. We'll still cover art exhibitions and books, but you can expect more film and TV news with the odd bit of trashy gossip thrown in. So, enough fanfare, here's what you’re in for this weekend:

The Moonglow Cabaret & Comedy club is rolling into town and they will attempt to tease you to death. The burlesque show will be accompanied by a comedy act to spin your head with two hours of thrills and laughter.

For a notch up in culture, the acclaimed ballet Raise the Red Lantern will be performed at NCPA. Based on Zhang Yimou’s hit film, the Chinese ballet performance has been making waves in Europe, getting nominated for awards.

The New Life Art & Music Fest will showcase talent from local international schools on Saturday evening. Funds raised will go to renovating the New Life Centre’s facilities. This is for a good cause and I’m sure they’d appreciate a good turn out.

Until next week ...
