Modo No More: Modo Urban Deli on the Way

Modo closed today for the renovations required of Sanlitun Village South tenants resigning their lease due to increased fire code enforcement. We announced it last month when they first received notice. The mezzanine will go, but expect many new additions and upgrades in the form of Modo Urban Deli.

With the mezzanine out, Modo plans to have seating for 32-34 people and will feature an all-day dining and evening menu for eating in. While there will be some reinvention of dishes, don't worry too much as I was told a number of the house favorites will remain. As the name suggests, there will also be a deli counter with prepared take-away items and a mini-market. And if you can't make it to the Village, home delivery service will now have you covered to ensure you get your Modo fix.

Modo has boasted an extensive wine collection, but for the Urban Deli, they will be concentrating the list to a selection of 20-25 wines. Wines will be priced under RMB 300 with discounts for retail.

The team is using this opportunity to refocus the space in a direction they had been hoping to move. They'll be keeping things casual and making their dining more accessible by restructuring the pricing for their menus. Construction is set to begin shortly and will take about 30 days, so by the time spring is in full swing, Modo will be sporting a new look as the latest "modern European deli" in town.
