Talking Pints: Great Leap Turns Three

No reason, just why not?

Thick heads abound at TBJ HQ today after our rip-snorting bash last night. Did you manage to make it over? If you did, many thanks for partying with us and making it such a great night. It was almost worth this hangover.

Another hangover could be in the pipeline; Great Leap turns three on Saturday (Oct 19). They'll be celebrating all day at both locations. 300 kuai will get you all-you-can-drink beer. Pace yourself, young ones, some of their stuff is wicked strong.

Centro will mark 10 years with an Agent Provocateur lingerie catwalk on November 22, as you do.

The rooftop at The Bar at Migas enjoys its last hurrah this weekend. It's getting a wee bit nippy already so don't forget your sweater, but do enjoy the last two nights – it's Funk Fever tonight (Oct 18), and Los Residentes with The Migas All-Stars tomorrow (Oct 19) to give it a good final send off for this year.

Things are changing up at Plan B: the Beijinger's Best Place to Play Pool 2013 no longer has a pool table – do not go there to play pool – but they do now have extra seating where said pool table used to live. And it's just as well as construction starts soon on a new kitchen, and they're going to be rolling out a new menu in the next few weeks.

On the subject of renovations, 4corners had a bit of a facelift recently and they'll officially relaunch with a "Re-Opening Party" on Saturday (Oct 19). Chef Jun Trinh will be offering free samples of the new menu they're launching and there'll be live music from The Beijing Dead.

Bespectacled UK funnyman Marcus Brigstocke is Beijing-bound. He's performing with Andre Vincent and Imran Yusuf as part of two Punchline Comedy Club nights at Paddy O'Shea's on November 19 and 20. Here he is getting down kung fu style for charity.

Changes are already afoot at The Irish Volunteer. We mentioned here last week that Zach Lewison was getting involved as a part-owner. He told us this week that they've managed to get Brooklyn lager on tap.

The International Newcomers' Network are about to start their annual charity bash. RMB 300 gets you free-flow beer and wine and unlimited hors d'oeuvres. Get drunk and full at the Beijing Marriott Hotel Northeast – it's for the kids.

Ink opens tonight (Oct 18). The new "bistro club lounge" spot in Sanlitun south – near The Local and Janes & Hooch – from the people behind The Beach at Block 8, hosts a launch party tonight.

Get along to Centro on Monday night (Oct 21) if you fancy partying with the New England Patriots cheerleaders. They're in town and Centro is offering drinks specials to welcome them.

Go here and hone your plans for the weekend.

Whatever you do, have fun.
