Talking Threads: Bomoda Could Be Your New Style Muse, Plus Wuhao's Moving

I’m obsessed with Pinterest. I’ll scroll through photos, get tangled in its web of inspirational boards, and after hours of doing this on the subway, while walking, in bed, while eating, and in between awkward lulls in conversations, I realize that real life is waiting for me, and I stop. Or I don't. Alternatively, China Mobile's 3G disappears somewhere for awhile, and I get that "Can't refresh feed" message. Then I go borderline berserk.

I'm half kidding, of course. But now, to add to it all, there's a new aesthetic app on the scene vying for my attention. With a focus on fashion, specifically "international trensetters," Bomoda allows users to explore luxury labels and brands from Chinese designers. Not only does it serve as a style muse, but shoppers can easily locate the online shops for the items they like, without having to worry that they'll be sent to a cheap, copy cat version on Taobao. If you've used Meilishuo before, you'll know what I mean.

The app just launched, but you can already expect to find a wide range of brands, from Roger Vivier and Estée Lauder to Yang Du, BNC, and Free People. There's an English version of the site, so if you care to explore more, register here (see you on the other side). Stay tuned for our January issue for more info about how the app works.

Multi-brand boutique Wuhao closed its doors on Mao'er Hutong in Gulou a few weeks ago and is currently looking for a new space. You can still arrange a shopping appointment with them in time for the holidays through their Facebook, Weibo, or Weixin. More details on their website.

I feel like every week I hear about a new China-related T-shirt design from one of Beijing’s special illustration shops. Don’t say I didn’t give you any Christmas gift ideas. This time, it’s from Plastered 8, and it’s called Yin and Yang by Yu Lijia. Get it on their website or at their shop in Nanluoguxiang.

We'll have street style shots like those above by Beijing-based social media site P1 on the blog soon, as we gear up for The Great Style Leap, P1's photography exhibition on the evolution of fashion trends of the last decate. Look for that at The Orange on December 14.
