Back to DVD: 'NCIS,' 'Big Bang Theory,' and Other Shows Removed from Chinese Online Video Providers

Shock, then dismay: that must have been the reaction of fans of a few US television shows who suddenly found their favorite programs missing from local streaming sites. The bad news is, they're not coming back.

"NCIS," "Big Bang Theory," "The Good Wife," and "The Practice" were removed from video sites on Friday, according to The New York Times. While regulations on content that appears only via online video sites is less strict what appears on broadcast television, in terms of sex, the supernatural, and violence, there's no specific regulation that actually allows them to be shown on either medium. All that science on "Big Bang Theory" must have put the folks at the State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television (SARFT) over the edge.

However, fans of "House of Cards" need not fret, yet. For now, the Netflix series is still available on Sohu, as are episodes of "Saturday Night Live."
