New Cocktails, Plus There's Still Time to Vote in the 11th Annual Reader Bar and Club Awards

Have you placed your vote in the 11th Annual Reader Bar & Club Awards yet? It's not too late – you have until May 7 to choose which Beijing bars and clubs deserve to win this year's competition. Keep an eye on the blog over the holiday to see who's on the ballot. Ready to vote? Head here.

In the meantime, if you haven't already, you should follow my Instagram @jrapppp to see where I've been drinking. This week, it was on the rooftop bar at the new Emperor Hotel in Qianmen, which is set to open after the Labor Day Holiday. The hotel used to be a bath house in the Ming Dynasty, so naturally, many of the cocktails are water themed. I had the "Water," an appropriately transparent mix of Dita Lychee Liqueur, peach vodka, lime juice and tonic water.

It was too syrupy sweet for my taste, but it's worth going back for another go at one of the many specialty drinks spanning four pages of the cocktail menu, if even it's just for the view or, even better, the rooftop pool (!!!). Look out for a full review of their rooftop space in the Beijinger magazine.

Give it a try and leave your comment below. What other cocktails should I try this week?
