Beijing-Bound Flight Returns to Washington, DC to Foil Kidnapping Attempt

A United Airlines flight originating at Washington, DC's Dulles International Airport and bound for Beijing returned after two-and-a-half hours of flight to foil an attempted kidnapping on board, Fox News reported.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) requested the flight be ordered to return, as the mother and grandmother of a young boy were believed to be taking him away in a kidnap attempt. The flight landed at Dulles at 5pm and the mother was taken into custody. The boy was returned to his father at the gate, the report said.

The nationalities of the parents are not known at present. The mother is scheduled to appear in family court on Friday at 2pm local time.
