Get Cozy: New Winter Menu Options at Obentos

When thinking about food, "healthy" and "winter" aren't usually terms that go together. Why struggle through a salad when you can snuggle with a stew? Luckily, Obentos are here for us with their nutritious take on wintery Japanese-inspired dishes.

Their new winter menu, which is available from Saturday, November 1, has a few changes, the biggest of which is a new menu section called "grain bowls," The grains in question are brown rice, red rice and barley and they can be found in the teriyaki grain bowl (with either chicken or tofu), the avo grain bowl (with avocado, soft-boiled egg and creamy tofu dressing) and the salmon ochazuke grain bowl (hot soup broth poured over grains and topped with flaked salmon).

I would be lying if I said these don't remind me of the Power Bowls at Moka Bros, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Elsewhere, they've got some spicy new snacks, including chili sea salt-spiked edamame and Japanese pickled vegetables, a soba noodle soup (beef and vegetarian options available), and the return of their popular kimchi tofu bento. For fiber fans, you can now choose to have brown rice with your bento box for an extra RMB 5.

Finally, the sweet-toothed among us can indulge in a healthy take on lemon cheese pudding, lightened up with silken tofu, as well as new desserts (carrot cake, gluten-free buckwheat cake and whole wheat brownies) supplied by Boulangerie Nanda.
