Another Leap: First Photos of Great Leap Brewing's New Location

Great Leap Brewing stayed up late on New Year's night, but not to serve suds. Instead, boss Carl Setzer and a whole lot of others used it to install the tanks in its upcoming third location, north of Capital Mansions and the Kunlun Hotel.

Great Leap was kind enough to provide us with a couple of photos of the operation.

"This was a seven-hour job that took about 22 guys, two foreign rigging and equipment experts, 18 laborers and a couple of forklift drivers. We had to completely disassemble the brewhouse (about two metric tons in total weight) at the factory and reassemble it on site, requiring building several cranes on site and a lot of prayers," Setzer said.

"The total size of the equipment is 1,250 liter per batch brewhouse and 2,500L per batch uni-tanks (fermenters). This will give us a monthly output capacity of 15,000 liters, or 30,000 pints, or about two-thirds the capacity of #12 but in about half the space," he said.

The new site, which will feature a rooftop deck and pizza ovens, in addition of course to craft beer, will be available for soft-launch reservations after January 20 to subscribers of Great Leap's newsletter, according to Setzer.
