Preview: Izakaya! Jing-A Brewing Kitchen Takeover by Hagaki, June 10

As much as we were disappointed when we heard that the Craft Beer Festival was cancelled, the replacement Beijing Craft Beer Week is shaping up to be just as exciting.

As one of the many events taking place from June 8-14, 京A Brewing is hosting Chef Rob Cunningham from EAST, who will be taking over the kitchen on June 10 to serve up a series of dishes available at the hotel's Japanese restaurant, Hagaki.

For RMB 100 per person, each diner will be served a set menu featuring the four dishes below:

Tonkatsu burger with pickled ginger and Japanese mayonnaise (suggested beer pairing: Flying Fist IPA)
Hagaki salmon roll with salmon, avocado, cucumber and spicy cocktail sauce (suggested beer pairing: Koji Red Ale)
Chicken and leek yakitori with teriyaki sauce (suggested beer pairing: Mandarin Wheat)
Crispy river shrimp with lemon salt (suggested beer pairing: Tuhao Gold Pilsner)

As you would expect from a collaboration of this caliber, all the dishes are tasty, but we particularly enjoyed the pleasingly salty crispy river shrimp, which slid down very easily with a beer.

Seats are limited to just 100 places, so be sure to call in advance to pick up tickets and reserve a table. Tickets will be available on the door while supplies last.
