Road, Subway Closures In Place Across Beijing this Weekend, Aug 22-23

Earlier this week we posted about roads restrictions that will be in effect this weekend as full-scale rehearsals take place for the upcoming military parade on September 3, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Agression. Today, The Beijing News released a comprehensive list of the traffic restrictions and road closures that will be in place.

Subway closures

  • From 9pm-midnight on August 22, subway trains will not stop at stations on Line 1 between Fuxingmen and Guomao, and from Hepingmen to Chongwenmen on Line 2.
  • From midnight-noon on August 23, Line 1 will be closed in its entirety, including Sihui and Sihui Dong stations on the Batong Line.

Other closures

  • Pedestrianized shopping areas in Xidan, Wangfujing, Dongdan, Qianmen, and Dazhalan will be closed from late evening on August 22 to approximately noon on August 23.

Road closures

  • The area immediately surrounding Tian'anmen and the Forbidden City will be closed from 9am on August 22 until the end of the rehearsal.
  • Xi Dawang Lu from Hongmiao to Dawang Qiao, and Guanghua Lu from Zhenzhi Lu east will be closed to unauthorized vehicles and personnel from 4.30pm on August 22 to 6pm on August 23.
  • The area from Dazhalan in the south to Jingshan Park in the north, and from Chongwenmen in the east to Xuanwumen in the west, will be closed to unauthorized vehicles from 7pm on August 22. Gongti Beilu, Gongti Donglu, Nongzhanguan Nanlu, Chaoyang Gongyuan Nanlu, Tianshuiyuan Jie, Jintai Lu, and Xi Dawang Lu will be closed during the same period.
  • Jianguo Lu will be closed to unauthorized vehicles and personnel from Sihui Qiao to Guomao Qiao from 10pm on August 22.
  • Gongti Donglu and Dongdaqiao Lu will be closed to unauthorized vehicles and personnel from 11pm on August 22 until the end of the rehearsal.
  • The East Second Ring Road between Chaoyangmen Qiao and Dongbianmen Qiao (not inclusive) will be closed to unauthorized vehicles and personnel from 11.45pm on August 22 until the end of the rehearsal.
  • Fuxingmen Waidajie will be closed from 7.30am on August 23 until the end of the rehearsal.
  • The West Second Ring Road between Fuxingmen Qiao and Guanyuan Qiao (not inclusive) will be closed to unauthorized vehicles and personnel from 7.50am on August 23 until the end of the rehearsal.
  • Ping'an Li Xidajie; Di'anmen Xidajie; Di'anmen Dongdajie; Zhangzizhong Lu; Dongsi Xidajie to Dongsi Shitiao Qiao; Jianguo Lu to Dawang Qiao; Dongdaqiao Lu; and Gongti Donglu will be closed to unauthorized vehicles from 8am on August 23 until the end of the rehearsal.
  • The East Second Ring Road between Dongzhimen Qiao and Dongbianmen Qiao (not inclusive) will be closed to unauthorized vehicles and personnel from 8.10am on August 23 until the end of the rehearsal. Gongti Beilu will also be closed for the same period. Traffic heading east and west can use Dongzhimen Qiao and or Quangqumen Qiao.
  • Nongzhanguan Nanlu, Chaoyang Gongyuan Nanlu, Tianshuiyuan Jie, and Jintai Lu will be closed to unauthorized vehicles from 8.40am on August 23 until the end of the rehearsal.
