Burger Brief: Rumi's Cheese Burger

Burger Brief takes a look at some of the top seeds in the Beijinger 2015 Burger Cup. This time around, we talk to Fariborz Mohebati of Rumi to see what pushed their burger into the top 64 in the pre-tournament seedings.

Name: Fariborz Mohebati
Nationality: Iranian-American
Number of Years in Beijing: 10
Venue: Rumi
Name of signature burger: Rumi Cheese Burger

Tell us about your signature burger. What makes it the best burger in Beijing?
We use Halal meat and secret spices that help make our burgers stand apart from others. Halal meat is the Muslim way to slaughter the animal before consumption and the meat tastes different because all the blood is drained from the animal before being cooked. We slaughter the animal this way so as to minimize suffering prior to death.

What does the burger come with?
All burgers come with a generous portion of french fries and a side salad.

What drink from your menu goes best with the burger?
We have a traditional Iranian minty yogurt-based drink called doogh. It's particularly refreshing to drink while eating a hot, fresh burger. Or, of course, you could just have a plain Coke.

What other burgers do you have on the menu?
Was also have the Rumi chili burger, chargrilled beef fillet burger, Rumi chicken breast burger, Rumi salmon burger, and the chargrilled beef or lamb koobideh minced kabab burger.

Aside from your own restaurant's burger, what was the best burger you’ve ever had?
I had a great burger at Bang Café in Shanghai. It was made from high quality beef and was very juicy and tasty.
