Sweets and Scents: Diptyque La Collection 34 Afternoon Tea at Sureno

The Opposite House have teamed up with luxury French parfumerie Diptyque for a limited edition afternoon tea set, themed around Diptyque's new Collection 34, which captures the spirit of the brand's original store at number 34 Boulevard Saint Germain, Paris. This is the latest in a series of collaborations including Paul Smith, Jo Malone, and Godiva.

The tea includes a selection of savory and sweet morsels, and by selection we mean a pretty huge amount - you might want to skip lunch before this one. From the savory side, we loved the peach, pecan, and prosciutto brioche, while the best of the sweets was without a doubt the hazlenut and chocolate macaron, made with Valrhona Azélia chocolate, available in Beijing exclusively at The Opposite House. As a grumpy, set-in-my-ways Brit, I wasn't a big fan of the pink scone (sacrilege!) although the accompanying homemade strawberry jam and clotted cream were very pleasant.

Each tea set also comes with a "The Art of Body Care" set, which includes three pampering body care products. The afternoon tea set is available until October 31, priced at RMB 208 (plus 15 percent service charge).

Alternatively, head over to the newly opened Diptyque store in Taikoo Li South to view their full range of (frankly delicious) scents, most of which can be purchased as a perfume, home fragrance, or candle. You can also have a scent designed for you, if your so desire (and if your wallet allows).
