EAT: Hatchery Launch Common Burger, 50 Percent Off at Revamped Sureño

With Spring Festival well and truly over, there's no excuse not to fulfill your dining resolutions and get out there and try something new. We recently rounded up some of the most interesting new openings and revamped menus from over the past few months, including a healthy concept serving dairy-free smoothies and grain bowls, a high-end dim sum restaurant in SKP, and several excellent Japanese options.

This is also a good time to revisit old favorites now that they're back open after the seemingly endless holiday. For example, our favorite banh mi joint, Rollbox, is back open and now offers the option to add fried egg or cheese to any of their sandwiches. We see that going down particularly well with the barbecue pork roll.

Speaking of fresh starts, the folks at the Hatchery are kicking off the new year with a new concept, "Common Burger." Currently in the soft launch phase, Common Burger will be available all day, seven days a week, with a menu including breakfast, burgers, snacks, and shakes (all day breakfast from 8am, full menu from 11am). Menu details are scant at this stage, but we do know that they're using New Zealand beef and dairy, housemade sauces and pickles, and buns from local French bakery Jiang Mai Tang. We've heard through the grapevine that they will have a venison burger topped with beetroot relish and minted whipped feta, which sounds pretty awesome in our book. They'll also be launching a curry night, fish and chips night, and brunch menu soon. Go try it out next Monday, when you can get 50 percent off your food bill when dining with a group of four or more friends as part of their "Mondays are for mates" deal (available all day, valid with the purchase of any drink), or on Wednesdays, when they'll be offering buy one, get one free burgers.

You can also get 50 percent off dinner at Sureño until February 15, which has recently undergone a bit of a revamp (or at least the menu has) courtesy of new head chef Talib Hudda, formerly of The Georg. Gone are the pasta, wood-fired pizzas, and other Mediterranean classics for which Sureño made its name, replaced by more subtle flavors from Italy and Spain. We've heard great things so far, so we highly recommend taking this opportunity to try it out. You'll need to book in advance by calling 6410 5240 and quote the offer when making your booking.

Note that the Sureño offer isn't valid on Valentine's Day, but you can find a host of other Valentine's Day offers, menus, and events in our round-up here.
