EAT: Beijing Supperclub Chef Revealed, Hatsune x 'āina Pop-Up, Mosto's Ninth Anniversary

Get ready for some great pop-up dining events with chefs from out of town this week, as well a chance to celebrate one of our own city's most beloved restaurants.

Firstly, Hatchery have revealed that the guest chef for their upcoming supper club collaboration with Shanghai's Social Supply is none other than Jenny Gao from Shanghai-based Fly By Jing. Jenny will be delighting Beijing diners with her famous blend of traditional Sichuan flavors and worldly, modern influences. Diners can expect a family style meal with over 10 dishes including some of Gao's famous dishes such a sweet water noodles, silken steamed egg with shiitake and shiso, and crispy lazi wings, as well as new creations made especially for the evening.

Priced at RMB 500, the dinner is invitation-only, so check out Hatchery's WeChat account for details of how to RSVP for a chance to have a seat (plus one guest!) around the table for this one-off dining experience – guests will be confirmed in the week before the event.

On September 9-10, Hatsune will welcome Chef Jordan Keao, Executive Chef and Owner of 'āina, a modern Hawaiian eatery based in San Francisco, for a limited edition run of two pop-up dinners that are set to bring an authentic taste of the tropical flavors of Hawaii served with aloha vibes to Beijing. ‘āina started as a brunch pop-up in late 2014, attracting long lines of foodies that came from near and far, which led to a permanent restaurant opening in 2016 in the Dogpatch neighborhood of San Francisco serving both brunch and dinner. In just a few short years, ‘āina has already achieved immense success, including being named one of the Best New Restaurants in America by Thrillist.

Alongside three creative dishes by ‘āina, including an ahi limu poke and kalua pork belly, Alan Wong and Hatsune's talented sushi chefs will be presenting a tropical welcome cocktail, a truffled edamame starter, and their own Hawaii-inspired sushi roll. The dinner is priced at RMB 380 per person and will be held at Hatsune Taikoo Li on Saturday, September 9 and HANA by Hatsune on Sunday, September 10. See the event listing for booking details (advance booking required).

The grande dame of the Nali Patio dining scene, Mosto, turns nine this fall and she is celebrating with a great big birthday bash spread over two nights on September 8-9. Tickets for the party cost RMB 348 per person, which includes a tasting menu of some of the new additions to the menu created by Chefs Daniel and Juan, as well as free flow red, white, and a sparkling wine – that's a bargain in our book. The package also includes after-dinner deals on cocktails and free entry to Migas, so you can keep the party going long into the night. Tickets are available from Mosto and Moka Bros.
