Chi Fan for Charity Throws its 9th Annual Dinner and Afterparty for a Good Cause

Chi Fan for Charity (CFFC) has been bringing foodies and restaurants together for great dining experiences that come with the added bonus of a good cause. Founded in 2009, the mission of the organization is to give back to the Beijing and Chinese community. They invite Beijing's well-known personalities to host tables in participating venues where they will be served a mouthwatering meal with a group of their friends (or fans). Not only do participating diners get to enjoy their beloved or newly discovered restaurants of Beijing, they also contribute to the work of nonprofit organizations.

Every year, 100 percent of the proceeds go to a charity benefitting Chinese citizens in need. This time, the organizers have decided to send their donations to Education in Sight, a nonprofit that provides visually-impaired children from rural areas of China with treatment and equipment needed to pursue the education. They bring eye exams and care as well as glasses directly to the classroom.

Education in Sight has given over 150,000 eye exams and more than 20,000 pairs of glasses to date. This year, they are looking to work in Changning county, Yunnan, where over 80 percent of the local residents are considered poor. Using funds gathered during Chi Fan for Charity and other fundraisers, Education in Sight will build a new vision center in a county hospital, increasing the quality of local vision care.

CFFC has already donated more than RMB 4,600,000 to local beneficiaries through the years. For this year's event, Chi Fan for Charity has gathered together more than 50 participating restaurants of different styles, among them some of everyone's Beijing favorites, including Caravan, Bottega, Biteapitta, and Great Leap, as well as fresh faces from Root Pop Vegan Cafè or the newly opened Boxing Cat Brewery pop-up (see the full list of venues here).

With the Nov 4 rapidly approaching, most of the tickets have already been sold, but there's still some space for diners at Zerogo, Great Leap #45, Homeplate (SLT), and Arrow Factory Brewing, with tickets ranging from RMB 500 to RMB 700. After the dinner, participants will have a chance to sip on more beverages, mingle, and share their experiences during the afterparty.
