Where to Catch a Christmas Service in Beijing This Weekend

Merry Christmas everyone! Just in case you’re sticking around for the holiday and want to attend church services, here are a few places around town to attend mass along with their individual service times. We highly recommend that you reconfirm the schedule with the organizers before attending. Also be aware that you may require your passport for entry.

St. Joseph’s Church (also known as Dongtang Catherdral or Wangfujing Church) - 74 Wangfujing St, Dongcheng District (6524 0634 or 6521 2162)
Dongtang is located on the most commercial street in Beijing-Wangfujing Street Constructed in a Romanesque Revival style, Dongtang is well known for its fusion of European and Chinese styles in its design, featuring pilasters and three bell towers.

Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception at Xuanwumen was established in 1652, it is the first Catholic Church in Beijing.

Chinese Mass: 6.30am, 7.15am, every Monday to Saturday; 7am, 8.30am every Sunday

Xishiku Cathedral (North Church) - 33 Xishiku Road, Xicheng District (6617 5198)
North Church was established in 1703, it is the location of Beijing Cardinal Bishop Office. The present building was built in 1900.

St. Michael’s Church (Dongjiaominxiang Cathedral) - Jia 13, Dongjiaominxiang, Dongcheng District (6513 5170)
This church was part of the French Embassy, and it was built in 1901.

Beijing Christian Chongwenmen Church - 2 Hougou Hutongding, Chongwenmennei, Dongcheng District (6513 3549)
Chongwenmen Church of Beijing Christian Council was established in 1870 when it was called Asbury Church. It is the largest Christian church in Beijing and enjoys high prestige both at home and abroad. It has hosted countless big names such as Former US President George Bush, Bill Gates, George Carey, and the former Archbishop of Canterbury.
