Go Large This Christmas With These Loaded Festive Hampers

Nothing says Merry Christmas better than a wicker basket loaded with between-meal festive comestibles! Hotels know this better than anyone else (and are great at covering gift giving in a pinch), constructing Christmas hampers fit for any occasion or recipient. Here are some of what's on offer this year.

Kerry Hotel

Kerry Hotel is bringing the Christmas cheer with three varying hampers this year, including a RMB 588, a RMB 1,118, and a RMB 1,888 option, packed with the usual cookie, jam, chocolate, and booze selections. They're also offering takeaway whole roast turkeys, chickens, hams, and steaks. Read more about those here.

Nuo Hotel

Likewise, Nuo's U’Deli has bagged up a host of individual Christmas goodies (cookies, cakes, and chocolates etc.) as well as premade hearty hampers (RMB 1,888) stacked with all of the aforementioned as well as a miniature gingerbread house, Bayonne ham, and a bottle of red wine. Order via Nuo's official WeChat account: nuohotelbeijing or call 5926 8281.

Four Seasons

The two Four Seasons' Christmas hampers come packed with baked goods specially picked by the hotel's executive pastry chef, such as a berry and orange mousseline yule log, mince pies, and marzipan stollen. Opt for the RMB 1,888 option and you'll also get a bottle of Leonardi 1871 aged balsamic vinegar and extra-virgin olive oil, French whole grain mustard, homemade chocolate truffles and macaroons, and a bottle of French red wine. Alternatively, the RMB 2,888 hamper goes large with an Iberico ham, balsamic and olive oil, a gingerbread man, homemade chocolate truffles, macaroons, Canadian white honey, and Duval Leroy Brut NV Champagne. Finally, five percent of all proceeds go to the charity Educating Girls of Rural China. To buy, call 5695 8668 to order via the Four Seasons' WeChat store.

Peninsula Hotel

Peninsula pulled out all the stops this year, constructing four separate hampers, dubbed the Superior (RMB 398), the Deluxe (RMB 998), the Luxury (RMB 2,588), and the Extravagant (RMB 5,288). Details are lacking as to what is actually in that last one but rumors have it that Santa is missing a left nut this Christmas season.

East Hotel

East Hotel is currently stocking two types of hampers. Both include stollen bread, mince pies, Christmas cookies, macaroons, a mini panettone, a chocolate Santa Claus, mulled wine spices, and craft beers. The big difference is whether you opt for a bottle of red or G.H. Mumm Champagne, priced at RMB 1,588 and RMB 2,388 respectively plus delivery. The Opposite House is also doing a special doggie hamper should the recipient have been a particularly bad "boy" this year (just kidding, they're actually for dogs, and cost RMB 300). Call 8426 0888 for delivery or drop by the hotel to pick up.

Kempinski Hotel

Kempi Deli in the Kempinski is selling two types of hamper (RMB 772 for small, RMB 1,078 for big, pictured) this festive period, including a variety of Champagne, chocolates, German sausages, homemade bread and spread, imported cheeses, and more. Drop by the hotel to pick one up.

Migas Mercado

Migas have put together three gourmet hampers for Christmas this year, costing RMB 880, RMB 1,300, and RMB 1,900. To give you an idea what's up for grabs, the latter includes 12 Gillardeau N.2 oysters, 5J Pure Iberico ham, Plantin truffle oil paste, Cremeux de Bourgogne à la truffle cheese, and a bottle of Lousas wine.

Grand Millenium

Grand Millennium keeps things simple with their one "Back to Tradition" Christmas hamper (RMB 1,688), including a bottle of cabernet sauvignon, a bottle of Champagne, salami, mixed nuts, raisins, cookies, olive oil, stollen, chocolate pralines, and tea. Visit the hotel to pick one up this holiday season.

Chao Hotel

Finally, Chao Hotel has added a splash of chic to their Christmas hamper (RMB 3,500) this year, adding a framed piece of artwork and a scarf alongside artisanal soap, a bottle of Paty Claune, a premade negroni from Chao's Living Room bar, gingerbread, and foie gras.

Rather spend your money on going out? There are over 70 Christmas events and counting right here.
