2009 Jan 14 Dine Like a Local with Beijing Eats!

The ultimate English language guide to Beijing's Chinese restaurants is finally here! It’s called Beijing Eats – A Food-Lover's Companion to China's Culinary Capital, and it guides you to 140 of Beijing’s best Chinese restaurants, covering 31 regional and historic cuisines.

Beijing Eats is written by Eileen Wen Mooney, a long-time Beijing resident and food writer. She’s passionate about authenticity, and she doesn’t care about fancy décor or snob appeal, so don’t be surprised to find hole-in-the-wall noodle bars listed alongside the capital’s fanciest eateries.
Each Chinese regional cooking style has its own chapter, with cultural information and expert descriptions of classic regional dishes, plus Eileen’s picks of the best restaurants. The names of all dishes and ingredients are in Chinese and pinyin as well as English, and naturally, addresses are bilingual as well.
You’ll also appreciate the book’s nine color maps: every one of the restaurants is clearly located with a numbered location point.
Beijing Eats retails for RMB 100, and you can pick up a copy at major bookstores like the Foreign Languages bookstore or the Bookworm. It’s also on sale at Jenny Lou and April Gourmet, or you can get it delivered to your home: send an email to distribution@immersionguides.com or call 5820 7101.
The book is published by Immersion Guides, the same group of tireless editors who have brought you the 2009 Edition of the Insider's Guide to Beijing, Beijing by Foot, One Night in Beijing, the various maps that are often slipped into the pages of the Beijinger and a lot of other great products.
