Shock of the New - Jerry’s (Quiet) Bar in Wudaokou

When compared to Wudaokou’s standard student bars, Jerry’s Bar comes as a shock to the system. One does not have to swim through a sea of students, teachers, and rampaging drunks to reach the bar fully clothed. Nor does one have to fear that female friends will not make it through the throngs unscathed.

Instead, this is a quiet retreat with soft, sweat-free sofas to sit on. The wood walls, oddly adorned with lots (and lots) of pictures of the same Dulux dog, accentuate the relaxed atmosphere. Going beyond cheap tequila shots and Irish car bombs, Jerry’s high-class alcohol offerings include imported wine from California (RMB 288-728/bottle) and Baltika beer from Russia (RMB 50).
