Quick Link: Facebook Coming to China?

Not sure if this is to be believed, but China Hush has translated part of a report from the Chinese site iFeng claiming Facebook is preparing to launch in China within three months.

The iFeng report states: “On April 7, according to a reliable source, the world’s largest social networking site, Facebook, is preparing to enter China. If all goes well, this plan will be implemented within 3 months. Facebook has two ways to enter China: first, through a joint venture, and second, through cooperation and acquisition.”

You can read the full China Hush post here, or the iFeng report here.

If this report is true, it will be interesting to see what restrictions are placed on Facebook in setting up shop here, and how the .cn site will compare with the version outside China. As the China Hush post points out, Facebook will also have an uphill battle competing with well established domestic social networking sites.
