Sickened by Crass Fashion? Triple-Major Offers an Antidote in Baochao Hutong

A foreboding statue marked with vital acupressure points presides over the entrance, alerting shoppers to Triple-Major’s underlying objective: to provide the “antidote” to commercialized fashion’s erosion of individuality. That sounds ambitious for any store, but this one – unobtrusive even in a quiet hutong – is stocked with all the right ingredients for success.

Owner Ritchie Chan pulls from an international pool of designers who share his affinity for simplicity and structure. The clothes, often avant-garde and always unisex, steer clear of trends in favor of timeless cuts and patterns.

Gender plays no part in this Xiamen native’s carefully crafted fashion world; the trenches, blazers, sweatshirts
and collared shirts are suited for anyone who can fit into them (and
afford them).

Some people swear by retail therapy – and indeed, with more additions like Triple-Major, Beijing’s still-maturing fashion scene is well on its way to finding a cure.
