What's Going On? Everything You Need to Know About Our Events Section

We've recently made an effort to clean up our Forum to make them as useful as we can for you users. That's going well, so we thought it about time to step it up on our Events platform.

Our Events section is your go-to, whether you want to know what's going on in Beijing or you want to publicize your own event. You may have noticed that our site features more event listings than ever before, and we intend for that to continue.

However, we wanted to make sure that our users are clear on the rules and process for uploading events to the site. As a final note to events organizers, we strongly recommend that you post your events yourself on our site, because that's now the source for the event listings that show up in the print edition of the Beijinger. Read on for everything you need to know.

How do I post an event on TheBeijinger.com?

It's incredibly simple and just as quick. You can find a step-by-step guide here.

What are TheBeijinger.com's rules for event posting?

TheBeijinger.com provides this free events platform for users and events organizers to publicize their upcoming events. All events are subject to moderation and we reserve the right to not approve events that do not abide by the following guidelines:

  • Events should be posted in English. Text in other languages (i.e. Chinese or French) can be included but the body must contain at least an English translation.
  • Promotions miscategorized as Events will either be re-categorized as such by our moderators or disapproved entirely. We define promotions as things like drink specials, food promotions, sales, discounts etc. Events are tied in with a specific happening, performance, talk, seminar, concert, exhibition, party etc.
  • Classifieds advertising goods or services will not be approved and will be deleted on sight.
  • No profanity, obscenity or vulgarity of any kind will be tolerated and any such posts will result in your account will be blocked. Please also note that the all events must abide by the user code of conduct – see here.
  • Duplicate events will be deleted; the one with the most views will generally be kept.
  • Event images are not required but are encouraged. Feel free to post your event’s promotional flier.

If you have any problems or questions about posting events, please email us at editor@thebeijinger.com. Thanks, and happy eventing.
