Free Culture: Win Tickets to JUE Festival Events!

Now that JUE Festival is well underway after the opening weekend's activities, it's time to give you the chance to sample some of it for yourself. We've got eight pairs of tickets (that's a pair each for eight of the Festival's marquee events) and we're giving eight of you lucky readers the chance to pick up a pair.

We've got tickets to giveaway for each of the following events:

MAR 12

Cinema Soloriens (James Harrar & Marshall Allen) Featuring Beijing Modern Dance Company

Cinema Soloriens is a multimedia performance consisting of James Harrar’s experimental film and video images with a live musical rendering of soundtracks for each film. Legendary jazz performer Marshall Allen will also be providing a live soundtrack. Add to that some interpretive modern dance provided by the Beijing Modern Dance Company and you have a spellbinding show.

Mongolian Bling Premiere
First-time director Benj Binks presents the Chinese premiere of his new documentary. Mongolian artists Gennie, Quiza, Beijing MC Nasty Ray, and members of Hanggai will perform at the premiere in addition to a Q&A with Binks.

Jeff Lang
Singer-songwriter Jeff Lang has built up a reputation for startlingly original performances, working without a set list, allowing the unique energy of each night to shape the songs. Critically acclaimed as a truly great guitar player, Lang's show is bound to be one of this year's highlights.

Emerging Young Artists: Music & Art Showcase
A multimedia music and art showcase event featuring poster art from IdleBeats and Plastered T-shirts, album and poster art from the Maybe Mars archives and a musical programme showcasing some of the best young bands playing in Beijing today.

MAR 20

Gang of Four
Seminal post-punk outfit Gang of Four perform their first ever show in mainland China in support of JUE Festival veterans AV Okubo. They will take the stage with their heroes for a listening party before the official release of their second album, which was produced by none other than Gang of Four’s founder and legendary guitarist Andy Gill.

Grimes
Hailed as one of the most creative voices of the new millennium, Grimes' 2012 debut album, Visions, landed on the year-end Top-10 lists of the Guardian, Pitchfork, Q, NME among scores of others. Arguably the highlight of this year's edition, Grimes makes her highly anticipated JUE debut at MAO Livehouse.

MAR 22

Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls
In July 2012 Frank Turner played the biggest show on Earth when he performed at the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony. Hand-picked by Opening Ceremony artistic director Danny Boyle, Turner played three songs as part of the event to an estimated audience of almost 200,000 people in the stadium. Now he makes it to Beijing and the somewhat more intimate setting of Gulou's MAO Livehouse.

Trans-Pacific Improv and Noise Exchange

A trans-Pacific meeting of radical multimedia innovators & improvisers. Featuring performances from Bob Ostertag, Pierre Hebert and public improv committee.
