Talking Tunes: Simple Plan, Slash and all Sorts of Fun

First off, Canadian pop witch Grimes is playing tonight at MAO Livehouse which should be a nice way to welcome in the weekend – provided she doesn’t begin and end the set early like she did last night in Shanghai. We’ve heard complaints that some folks missed the show entirely – so arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Other Canadians we're excited about seeing this weekend are pop-punk veterans Simple Plan, who will play at M Space this Sunday. Prepare for fun and late-'90s nostalgia.

Punk rocker-turned-folk singer, Frank Turner, is taking time out of his busy schedule (which would include performing at the Olympics and not talking about Eton) to play at MAO Livehouse tonight as JUE approaches its climax.

If the thought of no more JUE makes you blue, then comfort yourselves with this cheering memo: Slash is coming to town. And by town, we mean China generally – Shanghai to be specific. But still. Slash - of G’n’R fame – will just be a bullet train ride away in May – according to Beijing daze.

In other news, Yugong Yishan have announced three shows in April – one from Wuhan native Peng Tan (who's releasing a new album), one from the aptly-named Danish hard rockers The Nordic Rock Party, and another Canadian punk rock band, My Skin Against Your Skin.

A couple of upcoming highlights:

And there are plenty more where these came from listed in our events section.

To play us out this week, Here's Slash shredding to "Sweet Child O' Mine". Here's hoping we get to see him in Beijing.
