Talking Tunes: Aerosmith, Pitbull, and a Reactable Demonstration

Before we get down to the business of what musical delights are upcoming in the next few days, it's worth a mention that tickets for the Aerosmith show in Shanghai on Aug 21 are now available for Beijingers to purchase here. It's also worth noting the gig is on a Wednesday night, and the cheap seats are already sold out. RMB 680 are the cheapest still available, factoring in the cost of a flight/train ticket and a hotel room (if you're not lucky enough to have a mate who'll offer you his couch for the night), it's already looking like an expensive jaunt. But then, it's Aerosmith! And you might not get the chance to see them in China again. They are old, you know.

There's also news emerging of a KORN show (again in Shanghai) as part of the Shanghai Sonic festival.

While we're on the topic of oversees acts coming to town, tickets are now on sale for Pitbull's show in Beijing on Aug 28 at Workers' Gymnasium. Tickets start at RMB 380.

Looking closer to home, Saturday (Jul 20) is set to be a big night of electronica with a live Reactable performance at Beer Mania, and the Audi Urban Electronics Showcase at D-Space 758, which will feature performances by Robert Henke (aka Monolake) as well as Dead J, Wang Meng, FAR/∞, SU, and FM3.

Also on Saturday, Not There play their last show of the summer at Temple. They even put together this promotional video for the gig:

Some more of the upcoming highlights:

  • Swedish dream poppers The Deer Tracks give a show at Temple tonight (Jul 18).
  • There's a nu metal anniversary bash at Yugong Yishan tomorrow night (Jul 19) as Beijing Thug Life Brothers get together to celebrate four years of collaboration. The show will feature performances from the likes of Twisted Machine, Army of Jade Kirin, and Ego Fall.
  • Madamoiselle et son Orchestre will close the door on Modernista when it shuts for renovations till September on Saturday (Jul 20).
  • MAO Livehouse will host their inaugural Metal Core Festival on Saturday, too. Plenty of blasting, thrashing and screaming to look forward to.
